Univercells SA, a technology company dedicated to delivering innovative and cost-effective biomanufacturing solutions, today formally announces the appointment of Christian Borgniet as its new Chief Operating Officer.
A well-versed biopharmaceutical veteran, Christian Borgniet joins Univercells to support strategy implementation and operations planning, reinforcing long-term company objectives and development of its technological solutions.
As COO, Christian will be leading the operations in its Gosselies and Nivelles facilities, overseeing operational activities, leading its teams to assure the proper management and delivery of development projects.
Mr. Borniet has already successfully managed several industrial projects, including the opening of Pfizer Animal Health’s first R&D pilot plant for vaccines, and the US FDA certification of Zoetis’ first site for the manufacture and supply of veterinary vaccines.
As Site Leader and Managing Director at Pfizer/Zoetis, he oversaw the establishment of a GMP plant under a 22M€ investment, for a first-in-kind entirely disposable BSL3 plant for antigens.
These significant achievements set Borgniet on a trajectory to drive the operational development of Univercells’ manufacturing platform for the cost-effective production of vaccines and antibodies.
Christian Borgniet, COO of Univercells: “I have found the evolution of Univercells very exciting and promising to watch, especially its potential impact on global health via technology and innovation. I am excited to be a part of Univercells’ game-changing mission and by my role in its organization. I see myself as an ‘orchestra conductor’ who translates leadership’s vision to our team of ‘musicians,’ to lead them in the right direction, harmonizing operations through continuous improvement philosophy, execution, and delivery.”
Hugues Bultot, CEO of Univercells: “We are delighted to welcome an experienced executive bringing such strong industry expertise to drive Univercells’ operations. I truly believe Christian’s enthusiasm for his role along with his incredible skill set and years of experience working in biomanufacturing will prove an invaluable asset as we continue to deliver our strategy towards making a real impact towards biologics for all.”
