Based in Belgium (Nivelles), you will join a collaborative team full of passionate change-makers. You will be an actor of the successful development of a smart and innovative vaccine production processes. You will participate in the development and implementation of analytical assays to design the Drug Substance production process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for performing a variety of analytical testing to support vaccine development of the company. These tests include ELISA, cell-based assays, virus titration, SDS-PAGE, dot-blot, Western blot assays, qPCR, etc. You will help to develop and qualify these analytical methods, and analyse samples from our upstream and downstream process development teams. This includes making preparations, executing the method, recording data. You will maintain laboratory equipment and inventory for laboratory supplies. You will also contribute to the writing of analytical protocols and reports.

She/he will work in collaboration with the analytical scientists to achieve vaccine project objectives and milestones.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Analytical Technician is responsible for the following: 

Analytical Execution

  • Assemble, prepare, check and calibrate equipment and/or materials for testing
  • Perform the analytical testing according to SOP and experimental plan
  • Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) according to good documentation practices
  • Suggest and help to implement improvements

Lab operations & Maintenance

  • Management of lab and equipment used for operational work.
  • Execution of basic maintenance of lab equipment as well as cleaning and housekeeping
  • Calibration of equipement
  • Maintain inventory/standard materials in the lab
  • Order specific material

·Monitoring and management of stocks of consumables and reagents specific to the assays

·Maintenance of a clean and safe working area by following established housekeeping routines.

·Training colleagues on equipement use and best practices

  • Execution of analytical assays in BSL-2 and BSL-3 for the needs of viral vaccine process development (USP &DSP) teams: 
    • Preparation of solutions (buffers, media, etc.)
    • Perform the analytical testing according to SOP and experimental plan
    • Record data and results in specific forms


Reporting & Documentation

  • Writing and management of documentation related to experiments.
  • Data and result collection and record in defined forms with accuracy.
  • Results analysis and report writing. 
  • Evaluate and report results to Analytical Scientist
  • In collaboration with the Analytical Scientist, contribute to Writing/Reviewing/Improving SOP, checklist, data or reports


Quality, Safety & Continuous improvement

  • Adherence to standard operating procedures in all the operational tasks executed with a special emphasis on the compliance with biosafety procedures for BSL-2 and BSL-3 labs.
  • Correct use and implementation of quality management system within the field of activities (procedures/checklist/working instructions, etc.).
  • Identification and reporting of deviations from standard operating procedures and of unexpected events through initiation of related investigations.
  • Support of corrective and preventive actions related to deviations and unexpected events.
  • Contribution to general lab activities (housekeeping and maintenance).
  • Generation of process quality documentation for vaccines platform (procedures, work instructions, templates, etc.).

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in similar area
  • Integrity and transparency.
  • Strong sense of observation, inventive & critical mindset, scientific curiosity and problem-solving skills.
