Here, in Nivelles (Belgium), you will join a collaborative team full of passionate change-makers and be a key contributor to the successful development of an innovative RNA production platform. You will design a high-performance manufacturing process in collaboration with internal and external experts and identify opportunities for incremental or fundamental improvement. You will help our equipment engineering team in designing and developing a next-generation manufacturing system aimed at improving affordable access to RNA-based medicines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop new manufacturing concepts for production of RNA-based medicines and other processes based on in vitro reactions (cell-free synthesis of biological molecules);
- Provide tactical and scientific leadership of platform development projects, either of the entire project (USP, DSP, assay development, manufacturing equipment) or of a project subteam (USP) – this includes (non-exhaustively):
- Prepare, or support the preparation of the platform development plan;
- Prepare operational and scientific plans using best-practice approaches and supervise their implementation (or contribute to their execution, as appropriate);
- Streamline and integrate workflows within different subteams for a synchronized and uninterrupted progress of the development project towards predefined objectives (in close collaboration with the Project Manager);
- Ensure readiness and continuity for project operations (facilities, equipment, reagent and consumable stocks, access to service providers…);
- Ensure all work is accurately and comprehensively documented, in a timely fashion and following corporate procedures and templates;
- Promote innovation and develop promising ideas to proof-of-concept, and support patent applications when requested;
- Prepare project summaries and updates for presentation to the company’s management team, as needed;
- Closely monitor the state-of-the-art in the field of molecular biology (applications relevant to the company’s projects) and report significant updates to peers and the company’s leadership;
- Act as subject matter expert for the Innovation Team and the company (peer training, counsel, due diligence support…);
- The ideal candidate also has experience in a different field of science, ideally in an industry setting, e.g. mammalian cell culture, fermentation, analytical sciences, purification.
